Young Art Entrepreneurs by the National Art Gallery

Young Art Entrepreneurs is a great program introduced by the National Art Gallery. This is their second year organising the program that is targetting young artists in Malaysia. Young artists who are searching for platform to channel their passion and creativity, to create money and source of living income out of it.
Personally, I recommend this program to all my young friends out there. Why, you asked? For me, an artist is not that different from an entrepreneur because we sell artwork in exchange for money. The only difference between an artist and the usual entrepreneurs is that we sell our creativity, our piece of mind and idea, in an art form whilst other entrepreneurs might be selling mast-produced domestic or industrial products.
Therefore, what is the harm for an artist in learning to be an entrepreneur? As an artist, you have to learn to sell yourself because your name is your brand. You have to be able to speak in front of an audience to explain your artwork because you can't expect everyone to understand your artwork. You can't expect everyone understand arts. You have to know the strategy in building your career as an artist - in other words, learn the business strategy for an art entrepreneur!
So, my advice to young artists out there - fresh graduates who are looking for experience as independent artist or struggling artists who desperately trying to escape the working-desk-jobs-to-pay-bills-and-food situation.
The dateline to register is 15 June 2018. For more info, visit http://www.artgallery.gov.my/?p=6363
